This race proven sipper clutch works for both road race and flat track use.

NOTE - In order to use this with the new R7, you have to backdate the clutch to use the FZ07 clutch plates and clutch springs.

Palmer worked with Yoyodyne to make sure the available slipper clutch worked just right. “I didn’t want it to freewheel into corners,” he says, “I wanted it to be heavy enough that good riders can back it in and guys that are used to twins will be familiar.” To his credit, that’s exactly what it does. The FZ-07R is perfectly well behaved if that’s what you need, and when you really bury the front tire on the brakes and grab a bunch of downshifts the rear end will step out. Once I got a feel for it I was laughing in my helmet approaching Sonoma’s tight turns with the rear end wagging around and sliding toward the apex. I slid farther and farther into braking zones for the juvenile joy of planting my knee on the pavement while still on the brakes.

22603 Antihopping clutch kit MT-07 / MT-09 - mounting instructions

This clutch should be installed by Yamaha service center, or experienced mechanic.

Read this instructions with photos before you start. Check that the kit includes all parts.
Remove the old clutch (according to Yamaha workshop manual), clean the threads on the shaft of old glue perfectly. Clean with brake cleaner.
Make sure the original thick shim under clutch drum is in it´s position ( pic.a).
Check, if the steel balls are in their pockets. Use one or two clutch springs and upper retainers to pre-mount both parts of clutch drum together. Position of both drums’ parts left to be in position as delivered.
Install this pre mounted unit to gearbox shaft ( pic.b ).
The kit includes the small parts that are necessary for assembly. They are packed in position how to mount them. Mount the curved washer first (pic.c ), then the spider spring (pic.d ) and the nut (pic.f ). Nut torque moment 120 Nm, use glue Loctite No. 620 (RED) to secure it ( pic.g ). Lock it also mechanically to shaft ( pic. h )
Remove the springs with retainers that were used to hold the clutch together for mounting.
Install clutch plates and springs. This clutch is designed for original plates and springs. We suggest installing a full width friction plate first, then a steel, then the narrow friction plate with judder springs, the remaining clutch plates as on the standard clutch ( pic. i ).
Remove pull rod from STD pressure plate and transfer to kit pressure plate ( pic. j ). Mount this pressure plate with pull-rod. Install clutch springs with kit retainers and M5x 25mm kit bolts ( torque 8 Nm ) . ( pic. k )
Check the clearance between pressure plate and clutch hub via the small holes in the pressure plates. The correct clearance is about 1,0 mm, minimal clearance is 0.6mm. When the clutch plates wear to this point, install new friction plates.
Correct thickness of all new friction plates is 21mm. Check this in case you buy any aftermarket clutch plates.
Install clutch cover according Yamaha workshop manual, adjust clutch cable and go back to track.
