13803 Antihopping slipper clutch GSX R1000 – mounting instructions

Congratulations, you bought one of best clutch systems for your Suzuki.

This clutch should be installed by an experienced Suzuki workshop, or mechanic.

1. Read these instructions with photos before you start. Check if the set includes all parts.
2. Remove the old clutch ( according Suzuki workshop manual ), clean the threads on the shaft and big nut from of glue with brake cleaner.
3. Replace the shim ( original ) between basket and drum, when you replace it.
4. Install pre mounted slipper drum.
5. Install the curved washer ( original ).
6. Tighten the big nut ( original ) with torque 120 Nm and secure it with glue Loctite No. 620 (RED).
7. This slipper clutch is designed to use standard clutch plates. Used as the first plate a thinner friction plate with thin steel rings with wire spring there. NEVER mount them as first ( from case ). Mount a normal friction plate first, then a steel plate and then the thinner friction plate with steel rings. The remaining clutch plates mount as on standard.
8. Install the pressure plate.
9. Put original clutch springs in position as before, then the spring retainers ( set ), tighten all bolts.
10. Check for the correct clearance between pressure plate and clutch drum via the small holes in the pressure plate. Correct clearance is about 1.0 mm, with a new plates set. Minimal clearance is 0.5mm. We suggest using a new clutch plates set. When the plates are used or aftermarket products, you can use different thickness of steel plates ( Suzuki parts ) to set the correct clearance:

11. Every time use new clutch cover gasket.
12. Mount case cover according to Suzuki workshop manual.
13. IMPORTANT: Check the axial clearance on pushrod. On the engine left side by the countershaft sprocket under rubber cover is adjusting bolt. Correct clearance is about 0.5mm.

TUNING TIPS

- when you have strong tuned up engine, and clutch slips under acceleration, use KIT spring retainers 14210 ( red + 0.6.. preload ) or 14211 ( black + 1.2mm preload ) when you prefer more breaking engine, use again retainers 14210 and 14211
