This clutch should be installed by an experienced Triumph
workshop, or mechanic.
- Read these
instructions with photos before you start. Check if the set includes all
parts.
- Remove
the old clutch drum ( according Triumph workshop manual ), clean the
threads on the shaft and big nut from of glue with brake cleaner.
- Put
shim ( Original ) between basket and drum, when you replace it.
- Install
pre-assembled slipper drum.
- Install
kit steel washer.
- Tighten
the big nut ( Original ) with
torque 127 Nm and secure it with glue Loctite No. 620 (RED).
- This
slipper clutch is designed for using original clutch plates. In the original clutch plate set are
thin steel rings with wire spring there. NEVER mount them as first ( from
case). Mount a normal friction plate first, then the first steel plate and
then the narrow friction plate with steel rings. The remaining plates
mount as STD.
- If
installing on a Triumph 675R from 2013: the clutch pack + clutch springs
must be same as on models prior to 2012.
- Install
pressure plate.
- Put original
clutch springs in position as before, put spring kit-retainers, tighten all with M5 bolts with torque 8 Nm.
Check for the correct clearance
between pressure plate and clutch hub via the small holes in the pressure
plate. Correct clearance is about 1.0 mm, minimal clearance is 0.5mm. When the
clutch wears to this dimension, change all friction plates to new ones.
- If you use aftermarket friction plates, you
can reach correct clearance by using a
suitable combination of following
steel plates:
