17703 Antihopping slipper clutch CBR1000RR 2008 – mounting
instructions
Congratulation, you bought one of best clutch systems for
your CBR1000RR.
This clutch should be installed by an experienced Honda
workshop, or mechanic.
- Read
this instructions with photos before you start. Check if the set includes
all parts.
- Remove
the old clutch drum (according Honda workshop manual ), clean threads on
the shaft and big nut from old glue with brake cleaner.
- Check
positioning of clutch drum with oil pump driven gear. Put shim ( STD )
between basket and drum, if you removed it ( pic. a ).
- Install
pre mounted slipper drum ( pic. b ).
- Put
kit steel washer ( pic. c ).
- Tighten
big nut ( STD ) ( pic.d ) with
torque 127 Nm and secure it with glue Loctite No. 620 (RED) ( pic. e ).
- This
slipper clutch is designed for using STD clutch plates and clutch springs
from a model CBR1000RR 2004-07 ( set 17703C includes this springs ) .
NEVER install the friction plate a bigger inside diameter ( in STD clutch
in first position ) and steel rings (judder springs) ( pic. f ) in first position. Install a normal
friction plate as first, then steel plate, and after that the friction
plate with bigger inside diameter and steel rings. Install all other
clutch plates in same position as before ( pic. g ).
- Install
push pin ( STD ) to push rod ( pic. h ).
- Install
pressure plate ( pic. i ).
- Put clutch springs ( CBR1000RR 04_07 model )
, put spring kit-retainers, tighten all spring bolts ( pic. j,k )
Check for the correct clearance
between pressure plate and clutch hub via small holes in the pressure plate.
Correct clearance is about. 1.3 mm. Minimal clearance is 0.5mm, in case it is
smaller, replace all friction plates
- Every
time use new clutch cover gasket.
- Mount
case cover according to Honda workshop manual.
