18103 Antihopping slipper clutch KTM 690 Racing – mounting
instructions
Congratulation, you bought one of best clutch systems for
your KTM.
This clutch should be installed by a KTM workshop, or
mechanic.
- Read
this instructions with photos before you start. Check if the set includes
all parts.
- Remove
the old clutch drum ( according KTM workshop manual ), clean the threads
on the shaft and big nut of old glue with brake cleaner.
- Put
shim ( original ) between basket and drum, when you replace it.
- Install
pre mounted slipper drum ( a ).
- Put
kit steel washer ( b ).
- Fix
big nut ( Original ) with torque
127 Nm and secure it with glue Loctite No. 620 (RED) ( c ).
- This
slipper clutch is designed for using STD clutch plates. In the original clutch plate set are
thin steel rings ( judder rings )
and one special friction plate there. DO NOT INSTALL THESE FIRST. Replace
them with a normal friction plate and steel. ( e ). Then install the
special plate with judder springs. The
remaining plates are installed normally. ( f )
- Install
pressure plate ( g ).
- Put
STD clutch springs in position as before, put spring kit-retainers, tighten
all bolts with torque 8 Nm ( h ).
Check for the correct clearance
between pressure plate and clutch hub via the small holes in the pressure
plate. Correct clearance is about 1.0 mm. Minimal clearance is 0,5mm. When the
clutch wears to this point, change all friction plates to new ones.
- Every time
use new clutch cover gasket.
- Mount
case cover according to KTM workshop manual.
