21503 Antihopping slipper clutch Ducati 899 – mounting
instructions
Congratulation, you bought one of best clutch systems for
your 899.
This clutch should be installed by an experienced Ducati
workshop, or mechanic.
- Read
this instructions with photos before you start. Check if the set includes
all parts ( pic. 21503a ).
- Remove
the old clutch drum (according Ducati workshop manual ), clean thread on
the shaft and big nut from old glue with brake cleaner.
- Check
positioning of the shim ( STD ) between basket and drum, when you
remounted it ( pic a).
- Install
pre mounted slipper drum ( b ).
- Put
KIT steel washer as usual (c ).
- Attach
big nut (from kit ) ( d ) with torque 127 Nm and secure it with glue
Loctite No. 620 (RED) ( e ).
- This
slipper clutch is designed for using STD clutch plates. NEVER install the
first friction plate with the thin steel rings (judder rings) on first
position!( pic. f ). Install another friction plate at first ( g ), then
steel plate( h ), and after the friction plate with bigger inside dimeter
and both steel rings ( j ). Install
all other clutch plates in same position as before.
- Reinstall
STD push rod and bearing from STD pressure plate and install it into kit
pressure plate ( k ) .
- Install
pressure plate ( l ).
- Put
STD clutch springs in position as before, put spring kit-retainers, tighten
all with M5 bolts with torque 8 Nm ( m,n ).
Check the correct clearance
between the pressure plate and inner clutch hub via holes in the pressure
plate. Correct clearance is ca. 1.0-1.2 mm. Minimal clearance is 0.5mm, in case
it is smaller, change all friction plates. You can adjust the clearance by
using different thickness of steel plates – 1.6mm and 2.0mm.
- Every
time use new clutch cover gasket.
- Mount
case cover according to Ducati workshop manual.
